Wild Grass Formations

Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1994. Prior to establishing the refuge, area wetlands were threatened by urban expansion from the city of New Orleans. These photographs were taken specifically on Boy Scout Road on one of the first spring days this year, just as the Irises were beginning to bloom. I do not know what causes these wild grass formations, but my guess is from strong winds, and many animals passing through. It is my hope to awaken you to this precious place, and take heed, since we do not know how long they will last. Saving the environment needs to be in everyone’s consciousness in order to change our living habits to save what we can of the wetlands and our existence.
